Last week the Danish Shipowners’ Association hosted a Trade Event for future shipping trainees. An eager and enthusiastic group of potential candidates had come to show their interest in career opportunities in the shipping industry. J. Lauritzen and other shipping companies were present competing for the best candidates for future shipping trainee positions.

All Lauritzen Kosan employees gathered for a strategy workshop last week. Employees flew in from Singapore, Shanghai and Manila to join the Copenhagen-based staff for discussions, focused work-streams and teambuilding exercises.

Last week, J. Lauritzen resumed the tradition of an annual cocktail reception for business friends and associates in Japan. The event took place at Happo-En in Tokyo where about 200 representatives from trading houses, shipyards, ship owners and other companies associated with JL attended, enjoying a couple of nice hours in the company of their JL hosts.

Singapore's Minister of Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew and Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Mr Andrew Tan together with their delegation of senior officials met with representatives from J. Lauritzen and discussed maritime related matters of mutual interest on Tuesday 7 October 2014.

For the third time, it is a pleasure to announce that a student from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore has been selected to receive J. Lauritzen’s and the Lauritzen Foundation’s joint scholarship.

On the first day of September, Copenhagen Business School welcomed the first students to its new bachelor programme in shipping. A few weeks into the programme, Peter Borup, President in Lauritzen Bulkers, was the first external lecturer to stand in front of a group of very dedicated and talented students.
