Obituary for Henrik Steffensen

Mar 24 2015

It is with great sadness that we have learned about the untimely passing of Henrik Steffensen, Vice President and Head of Procurement of J. Lauritzen at the age of only 53 after a short illness.

Henrik worked for J. Lauritzen for more than 20 years. He was a gifted person, a much-appreciated colleague and respected leader by all in J. Lauritzen. Many have benefitted from his mentoring on how to build relationships and how to negotiate.

Henrik’s many talents were also appreciated outside J. Lauritzen. He served as member of the board of the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA), and in November 2014 he was appointed Chairman and CEO of this significant industry organisation. One of Henrik's great contributions to our industry was his part in creating and working for the implementation of the IMPA Act, a program for responsible supply chain management.

His communication skills were rare and we will all miss his kindness, friendship and that special sense of humour which he possessed and readily shared to the joy of us all.

J. Lauritzen sends its heartfelt condolences to Henrik’s family and friends.

All honour to his memory.
